Not really. Storage is super cheap and the public server is not the most powerful machine. We mostly offer the public server for free so organizations can properly evaluate if they want to purchase their own private server. That's also why it's fully functional. We hope to keep the public server free forever, but time will tell. The plan right now is certainly not to make money out of the public server.
No. No chance. Just like your mail at Gmail isn’t.
You can, but you shouldn’t. Mostly because you shouldn’t trust anything you read on a random web page. If you’re working with sensitive data, get your own private server that is 100% under your control.
You can use your own private server for free, but it’s limited to one user and two projects. We do this so IT people can see how the private server will technically work within their infrastructure.
Nothing ,besides that the public server allows users to create profiles using their Google logins. Other than that, the public server runs the same code - just with an enterprise license.
Yes, you absolutely can. For end-users we suggest using Docker Desktop as you can easily see running instances, containers etc. You can install using the ‘localhost’ option.
Not a lot – you certainly don’t need to compile things 😊. If you’re happy installing software and you’re not intimidated by a terminal or a shell, you’ll be fine. If you only ever use a browser and you don’t know what we were talking about, then we suggest you use the public server. Read the documentation to be sure.
Yes, you can. You move projects between servers using import/export. You can even select multiple projects and bulk export / import.
The Ubikron servers love memory - so 16GB of RAM is a minimum. If you have more, that's better. CPU is not so much a big deal - for VPCs we recommend a minimum of 4 CPUs.
